K T Rajenthra Bhalaji, a former AIADMK minister, was detained in a case involving an alleged job scam in Karnataka on Wednesday and transported to Tamil Nadu, according to police. Three others accused of assisting him have also been arrested.

According to a police officer here, the former minister was arrested in connection with the scheme after his anticipatory release appeal was denied by the Madras High Court last month.

Mr. Bhalaji, two of his personal aides, and an associate are charged with job fraud by the police.

Virudhunagar police had already filed two different FIRs in response to allegations.

At least 23 victims have been discovered, and a total of 1.4 crore has been collected from them for the purpose of finding employment. They were offered work in various state government offices and enterprises, notably the state-run dairy cooperative 'Aavin.'

Among the IPC sections used against them are conspiracy, cheating, and criminal intimidation.

In the previous AIADMK government, Mr. Bhalaji was in charge of milk and dairy development (2016-21).

The High Court had dismissed Mr. Bhalaji's anticipatory bail petition, saying that in cases of employment racketeering, innocent people are tricked, enticed, and their future is jeopardized. "Job seekers lose not just their money, but also their future," it stated.

"This is an example of job swindling. As a result, this court is unlikely to be sympathetic to the petitioners." Police had organized special teams to apprehend him after his plea was rejected.
