
Three individuals scammed a Maharashtra government doctor in Nagpur out of Rs 11.12 lakh under the guise of assisting him in purchasing a new SUV at a low cost, police said on Wednesday.
Ayush Agrawal, Amitabh Shukla, and Pankaj Agrawal, all of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, have been identified as the suspects. No arrests have yet been made.
One of the accused befriended the doctor while working as a contractor at a government super-speciality hospital in Nagpur, according to a police officer.
"The accused promised the doctor that he could assist him save Rs 1 lakh by purchasing a new SUV from a friend's store in MP. In January of this year, the doctor sent Rs. 11.12 lakh to the accused's bank account of the accused in January this year," the official said.
The accused eventually stopped answering the doctor's calls.
A rioting case has been filed under several sections of the Indian Penal Code.
