According to a top Directorate of Education (DoE) official, "The contractual coordinators for nodal centre will be accountable for all tasks of the NIOS project, including maintaining safety, security, and to maintain discipline of the study centre."

They will also be responsible for creating a centralised schedule for classes, assuring excellent instruction, providing study materials, communicating with parents and providing them with counselling, he added.

"Over and above the regular working hours of heads of government schools, the coordinators will put in an additional hour of labour. Their contract will last until April 2023, but it may be extended based on successful performance "said he.

The representative went on to say that the hired coordinators would also need to pass the NIOS test with a minimum pass percentage of 70%.

"There will be no financial authority of any type for the contractual coordinators. Only those applicants who are unaffected by the vigilance angle will be given consideration for the position. They will be granted pro-rata eight days of leave per calendar year "explained the official.
