On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu received the report on the Mediation Bill, 2021, from the parliamentary standing committee on personnel, public grievances, law, and justice. After deliberating the measure in depth, the committee, led by BJP MP Sushil Modi, presented various remarks and recommendations.

"It was made clear to the Committee that because of their presence across India, authorities covered by the Legal Services Authority Act (LSA) were chosen as mediators. Accordingly, the Committee advises that the Government consider the viability of designating other organisations, such as the State Mediation Council, to serve as providers of mediation services in addition to the authority established under the Legal Services Authority Act, according to the report.
