Monday saw the swearing-in of Droupadi Murmu as the nation's fifteenth president in the Central Hall of Parliament by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chairman of the Rajya Sabha M Venkaiah Naidu, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla, Members of the Council of Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, Members of Parliament, and Civil and Military Officers were all present at the occasion.

On July 22, the former governor of Jharkhand defeated her opponent Yashwant Sinha in the presidential election, making history by becoming the second woman and first tribal candidate to hold the position.

On June 21, the 64-year-old Santhal woman was announced as the NDA's presidential nominee by the BJP. After the vote-counting was finished on Thursday, she was formally sworn in as the nation's 15th President.
