The Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts received red alerts from IMD.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has convened a meeting of the District Collectors to assess the damage caused by the rain and organise relief efforts.

The release stated that the CM has urged people to exercise extreme caution, refrain from bathing, washing, or bathing animals in rivers, water bodies, streams, etc., avoid nighttime travel as much as possible, and be prepared to strictly abide by the warnings issued by the disaster management authority.

Fishermen have been warned not to enter the water at any time, and residents of landslide-prone areas have been requested to leave their homes and travel to relief camps, the statement added. The police, fire department, and other government agencies have also been instructed to be on high alert.
