Jagdeep Dhankhar, an ex governor of West Bengal and NDA contender, was inaugurated in as India's 14th vice president on Thursday. Droupadi Murmu, the nation's newly elected president, gave Dhankar's oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

At the swearing-in of the new vice president, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ex - president Ram Nath Kovind, ex vice president Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and numerous other leaders were present.

Dhankhar visited Raj Ghat in Delhi before taking the oath of office to pay respects to "Pujya Bapu" Mahatma Gandhi.

Dhankhar tweeted images from his visit and wrote, "Felt blessed, inspired and motivated to stay ever in service of Bharat in calm sublimity of Raj Ghat while paying respects to Pujya Bapu."
