In order to inform Indian foresters on the risk management strategy for the translocation of cheetahs to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh and the steps necessary for the project's success, a team of South African cheetah experts is anticipated to arrive in India later this month.

According to a South African person involved with the project's discussions, a team of South African officials would travel to Kuno as soon as India approved the risk management plan submitted with the Indian government. He stated, "We anticipate the visit to take place before the end of August."

Vincent ven der Merwe, the director of the cheetah metapopulation project, submitted the management plan, which outlines the actions to be taken to prevent disease transmission, mortality in transit, a low post-release survival rate, conflicts between people and wildlife, and the long-term genetic and demographic viability of wild cheetahs.

By the end of this month, Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh is anticipated to get four male and four female cheetahs from Namibia.
