In an effort to offer top-notch cancer care to the citizens of Punjab and surrounding states and Union Territories, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre to the country on Wednesday.
At the opening of the hospital, which will serve as a centre for cancer care and treatment in the area, with the 100-bed facility in Sangrur serving as a spoke, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated Modi.
The cancer hospital is a 300-bed, tertiary care facility with the latest technology for treating all forms of cancer with surgery, radiotherapy, and medicinal oncology, which includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and bone marrow transplant.
In his address at the event, Modi stated that his government's focus was on developing a healthcare system that would serve the needs of the most extreme cases of poverty. "Our top emphasis has been the health sector. In the past eight years, our administration has worked on the health sector in a way that hasn't been done in 70 years, he remarked.
