Heavy rains in the Karnataka districts of Mandya and Ramanagara caused traffic jams in Bengaluru and Mysuru as well as waterlogging problems in a number of locations.
Up to Wednesday, the Ramanagara, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, and Kolar districts of Karnataka are under a yellow alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD predicts that moderate to heavy rainfall will persist in these areas of the state over the next few days. Additionally, the agency has issued a few localised lightning-struck thunderstorm warnings.
Traffic on the section of the recently built Mysuru-Bengaluru highway, which is scheduled to open in October, was affected for several hours in various locations due to the roads becoming flooded from the nonstop rain.
Mass flooding has occurred as a result of the rain, which began on Monday about 3 am. While this was going on, the Ramanagara police advised the commuters to choose another route. The Bengaluru-Mysuru highway was recommended as an alternative route for passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Mysuru.
