Next week, Home Minister Amit Shah will visit J&K and is expected to make some significant announcements while he is there.

The home minister will be visiting Kashmir for the second time after Article 370 was repealed. He had previously been to Srinagar and Pulwama in the previous year.

Throughout his two-day stay at the UT Shah will participate in a significant gathering in Baramulla, in northern Kashmir. Shah will probably issue a statement offering the Pahari community special status within the state. The Pahari community, like the Gujjars, has long demanded a grant of special status, although the Gujjar group's leaders have resisted this demand.

According to Altaf Thakur, the BJP's state spokesman, the home minister would speak at a sizable rally at Degree College in Baramulla. "During this rally, he (Amit Shah) will make a significant announcement on Paharis and OBCs. It will involve a sizable assembly. On October 1st, he will arrive in Srinagar, the man claimed.
