Have you gotten a passport application? Are you awaiting a certificate of police clearance? If the answer is yes, you can apply for a police clearance certificate at any Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in India online as of today, September 28.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs described the action as being taken in response to a "unexpected rise" in demand for police clearance documents.

According to the ministry, this action would greatly increase the number of PCC appointment slots that are available and do so sooner.

The MEA statement said, "The Ministry's move in extending this PCC application capability to POPSKs would not only assist Indian people seeking job overseas, but also satisfy the need for other PCC demands, such as in the area of education, long-term passport, emigration, etc."

There are 428 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs), including 65 POPSKs in Aspirational Districts, according to the Department of Post's official website.
