In the Jammu and Rajouri districts, mobile data services have been momentarily shut off by the Jammu & Kashmir authorities. Amit Shah, the union home minister, is visiting the union territory for two days.

In the Reasi district, Shah paid a visit to the well-known Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and offered prayers there. After leaving the shrine, he is planned to take a flight to the border town of Rajouri to deliver a speech to a crowd.

According to officials, the shrine has been given a high level of protection in preparation for the home minister's arrival.

In the meantime, there is considerable unrest in the area following the assassination of Hemant K. Lohia, the director general of prisons, at his home. The administration announced the suspension of the services in a statement, citing the risk that they could be "misused by anti-national groups, which may worsen public order." Till Tuesday at 7 p.m., the suspension order will be in effect.
