Six people have been detained as the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busts an interstate drug cartel and seizes 60 kg of the synthetic stimulant narcotic Mephedrone, valued at 120 crore, according to the agency. One of those detained is a former Air India (AI) pilot.

According to the agency, Muthu Pichaidas, SM Chowdhury, M I Ali, and Chisty were detained in Mumbai, while Bhaskar V was detained in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Gaffar Mahida, who received his training in the US and served as an AI pilot from 2016 to 2018, was also detained.

Pichaidas, a history sheeter, was previously detained by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in 2001 in connection with another narcotics investigation. Since 2008, he has been free on bail.
