As Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the historic Deepotsav celebrations on Sunday, the eve of the festival of Diwali, Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh broke a new Guinness World Record for burning the most clay lamps—over 15 lakh—on the banks of the Saryu.

On this occasion, Modi and the chief minister Adityanath exhibited the Guinness Record certificate.

Modi spoke to the crowd on the occasion of Deepotsav, opening with "Jai Shri Ram." I wish my fellow citizens a happy Diwali from the hallowed birthplace of Lord Ram, Modi remarked.

Modi added that people should study Lord Ram as much as they can. No one is turned away from or left behind by Lord Ram, according to Modi.
