After 10 years from the enrollment date, the government changed the Aadhaar regulations to state that supporting documents may be updated "at least once" by Aadhaar holders.

Aadhaar-related data in the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) would be updated to ensure "continuous accuracy," according to a gazette notification released by the ministry of electronics and IT.

"Aadhaar number holders may update their supporting documents in Aadhaar, at least once, on completion of every 10 years from the date of enrolment for Aadhaar, by submitting Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents...so as to ensure continued accuracy of their information in the CIDR," it said.
