Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday (March 4) to discuss a large explosion in a house in the Bhagalpur district that killed at least ten people and injured nine more.

The Prime Minister wished the injured a fast recovery and assured them that all available aid would be provided. "The news of the loss of life due to an explosion in Bihar's Bhagalpur is heartbreaking," PM Modi posted on Twitter in Hindi. I wish the injured person a quick recovery. I spoke with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar about the situation. The government is involved in relief and rescue operations. The sufferers are receiving every available aid."

According to PTI, Bhagalpur District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen said the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning inside the residence of Mahendra Mandal in the Kajbalichak neighbourhood of the town. "The explosion may have occurred during the unlawful manufacture of country-made crude bombs," stated Bhagalpur range DIG Sujit Kumar. There's also the potential that the suspects are preparing crackers. We believe the quantity of explosives was really big because the nature of the blast was so strong."

Police in the area are concerned that there may be more people trapped beneath the rubble. The search for survivors began shortly after the explosion. The JCB is being used to transport the debris from the collapsed building. The blast was so powerful that it harmed persons sleeping in nearby residences and could be heard for miles. The DM stated that more investigation is being conducted.
