Despite allegations that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had fled to Poland, he stated on Saturday (March 5, 2022) that he had not left the nation.

Zelenskyy posted a video of his Kyiv (Ukraine capital) office on his official Instagram account, writing, "I'm currently in Kyiv. I'm employed here. Nobody has gotten away thus far."

Last week, reports appeared that Zelenskyy was departing the war-torn country, which Zelenskyy denied by sharing a selfie video of himself standing on the street with his inner circle, demonstrating that his chief of staff, prime minister, and closest aides had not left the capital.

The Ukrainian President has left Kyiv and is in Poland, according to Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

"Zelenskyy emigrated from Ukraine. Deputies from Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, reported they couldn't reach him in Lviv. He is currently in Poland "he stated

"We will not release information regarding the President's current whereabouts for his protection. I also won't confirm or deny information regarding his whereabouts "According to Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President of Ukraine's office.

Meanwhile, Russia has announced a truce in Ukraine to allow civilians to be evacuated through humanitarian corridors. The opening of the corridors, according to the Russian defence ministry, would allow people of Mariupol and Volnovakha, as well as the vital port town of Mariupol, to flee.

It's worth noting that Russian forces entered Ukraine on February 24, just days after President Vladimir Putin acknowledged Ukraine's separatist regions - Donetsk and Luhansk - as separate entities.
