On Monday, two unidentified assailants shot and killed a member of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Bolangir, Odisha. Loknath Biswal, 65, was standing outside his home in Banmal village with his wife Binita, a member of the Belpada Panchayat Samiti when two men on a motorcycle fired at him.
The police station in Belpada is in charge. Biswal was wounded in the chest, according to Bulu Munda, and died at a local community health center. "We can't say whether the murder was motivated by political considerations." But we're looking at everything," Munda added.
Biswal, who was a popular leader in his district and got his wife elected unopposed as a Samiti member in last month's panchayat polls, is thought to have named the two assailants before he died.
