Tata Motors announced on Friday that overall domestic sales jumped by 30% to 86,718 units in March, up from 66,462 units the previous month.

According to the firm, passenger vehicle wholesales increased by 43% this month to 42,293 units, up from 29,654 units in March 2021.

In March, it sold 47,050 commercial vehicles, increasing 16 percent from 40,462 in the same month the previous year.

In a statement, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said, "We posted the highest-ever annual, quarterly, and monthly sales, driven by a strong demand for our New Forever line and nimble supply side initiatives."

He noted that the company achieved its highest-ever annual sales of 3,70,372 units, representing a 67 percent increase over FY21.

"Despite a shortage of some electrical components, we had our best-ever quarterly sales of 1,23,051 (units), up 47% from Q4FY21." Mr Chandra stated, "We completed the financial year with the highest-ever monthly sales of 42,293 units."

"EV quarterly sales were greatest at 9,095 units, up 432 percent from Q4FY21, and EV monthly sales were likewise best at 3,357 units, up 377 percent from March 2021," Chandra said.

"We will continue to follow the evolving scenario closely and are refining our nimble, multi-pronged approach to continue to fulfil client orders," he said, noting that the semiconductor situation remains uncertain moving forward.

On the back of excellent acceptance of Nexon EV and Tigor EV, electric car sales continued to expand at a quick pace, he added.

"Our annual electric vehicle sales reached 19,106 units, up 353 percent from FY21.

"EV quarterly sales were greatest at 9,095 units, up 432 percent from Q4FY21, and EV monthly sales were likewise best at 3,357 units, up 377 percent from March 2021," Chandra said.
