GST collections reached an all-time high of 1,42,095 crore in March, surpassing the previous peak of 1,40,986 crore set in January 2022, according to the finance ministry on Friday.

In March 2022, the gross GST revenue collected was 1,42,095 crore, with the CGST (Central Goods and Services Tax) accounting for 25,830 crore, the SGST (State Goods and Services Tax) for 32,378 crore, the IGST (Integrated Goods and Services Tax) accounting for 74,470 crore (including 39,131 crore collected on import of goods), and the cess accounting for 9,417 crore (including 981 crore collected on import of goods).

The GST receipts in March 2022 are 15% greater than they were in the same month last year.

"Various rate rationalisation initiatives adopted by the Council to correct inverted tariff structure have also contributed to the increase in revenue," the ministry stated.
