The CBI brought four suspects arrested in Mumbai in connection with the Birbhum killings back to Kolkata this morning, according to an official.

He claimed they were returned to Kolkata on a transit remand given by a Mumbai court until April 10.

"Later in the day, we'll take them to Rampurhat to expedite the probe. They'll be interrogated with other suspects detained in the area "According to PTI, the official said. Bappa, Shabu, Taj Mohammad, and Serajul were nabbed by the CBI on Thursday in Mumbai, where they had fled after the March 21 massacre in Rampurhat's Bogtui hamlet. These were the central agency's first arrests after taking over the investigation.

Following the assassination of local TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh, eight people died of burn injuries after their homes in Bogtui were allegedly firebombed.
