According to persons familiar with the situation, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to return to its earlier practice of conducting board exams for classes 10 and 12 only once a year beginning in the academic year 2022-23.
Last year, the board announced two sets of board exams for students in grades 10 and 12 to prepare for any "unusual circumstance" that might develop as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak. The first set of exams took place between November and December 2021 in an objective multiple-choice style, while the second set of exams will take place on April 26, 2022, as subjective or long-answer papers.
