Students considering pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), or other medical degree in Pakistan should be aware that the degrees awarded by Pakistani colleges will not be recognised in India. In a statement, the National Medical Commission (NMC) encouraged medical students not to pursue their education in Pakistan.

"Any Indian national/overseas citizen of India who intends to take admission in MBBS/BDS or equivalent medical course in any medical college of Pakistan shall not be eligible for appearing in FMGE or seeking employment in India on the basis of educational qualifications acquired in Pakistan," according to the NMC, "except those who had joined Pakistan degree colleges/institutions before December 2018."

Meanwhile, migrants and their children who have been granted Indian citizenship will be able to take the FMGE/NEXT exam and seek employment in India.

According to a previous notice issued by the UGC and AICTE, any Indian national or overseas citizen who wishes to enrol in any degree college or educational institution in Pakistan will be ineligible to seek employment or further education in India based on the educational qualifications obtained in Pakistan. Such degrees, on the other hand, will be legitimate for migrants and their offspring.
