The price of a Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder has been increased by Rs 50, which may come as a shock to the common man. Domestic LPG cylinders will cost Rs 999.50 in Delhi after the recent hike.

The increase in cylinder costs comes at a time when people are already concerned about the country's growing petrol and diesel prices. The increase in LPG prices will exacerbate the plight of India's average man.

Prices for commercial LPG cylinders were raised earlier this month. The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was raised by Rs 102.50 on May 1, to Rs 2355.50, up from Rs 2253 before. A 5-kg LPG commercial cylinder's price was also raised to Rs 655.

On April 1, the tariff for 19-kg commercial LPG was hiked by Rs 250 per cylinder, bringing it to Rs 2,253. On March 1, 2022, the price of commercial LPG was increased by Rs 105.

The recent spike in gasoline and petroleum products prices is owing to a dramatic rise in global energy costs as a result of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, which has caused supply concerns.
