An FIR has been filed against former city BJP youth wing president Mohit Kamboj and two others on charges of cheating, according to a Mumbai police official.

Mr Kamboj, on the other hand, claims the FIR is false and that his voice cannot be silenced.

According to the police officer, a manager from a nationalised bank had filed a complaint with police stating that Mr Kamboj and two other directors of a company had accepted a loan of 52 crore and utilised it for purposes other than those intended.

According to him, the MRA Marg police in Mumbai issued a FIR against Mr Kamboj and the two firm directors on Tuesday based on the complaint, under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating) and 409 (criminal breach of trust).

He further stated that an investigation into the situation is now underway.

Mr Kamboj said in a Twitter post on Tuesday that municipal Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey had filed a "fabricated FIR" against him.

He further stated that it was incorrect to believe that he could be scared or have his voice silenced by filing a FIR against him in a subject that had been "resolved years ago," and that he would present facts before a court.

In March of this year, the Shiv Sena-controlled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a notice to a building in suburban Santacruz where Mr Kamboj resides and owns flats, to investigate whether any illegal alterations had been made.

The building was later assessed by a team from the BMC.
