The Tamil Nadu health department has written to the directors of all of the state's international airports, requesting that travelers exhibiting monkeypox symptoms be isolated.

The department stated in a letter to the directors of the airports in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Salem, Madurai, and Tuticorin that passengers arriving from international destinations who exhibit symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle ache, or exhaustion must be isolated and their samples taken for testing.

In the letter, the Director of Health Services stated that these samples, which included fluids in vesicles, blood, and sputum, would be forwarded to the ICMR-NIV laboratory in Pune for PCR tests via the state public health laboratory.

The department has asked all deputy directors of health in the state's districts to guarantee that once the isolated persons return home, strict standards are followed.
