A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist was among four terrorists killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama and Baramulla districts on Tuesday, marking a significant breakthrough. According to a police spokeswoman, security personnel conducted a cordon and search operation in Tulibal village in Baramulla's Sopore district after receiving information about the presence of terrorists there.
The search evolved into an encounter, he added, as the terrorists opened fire on security officers, who retaliated fiercely. He said that two unidentified terrorists were killed in the encounter, which was still going on when the final reports came in.
Another encounter took out in Tujjan in south Kashmir's Pulwama, killing two terrorists, according to the spokesperson. One of the killed terrorists has been identified as Majid Nazir of Jaish-e-Mohammad, according to Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar.
He said Nazir was implicated in the recent murder of Sub-Inspector Farooq Ahmad Mir.
