On Friday evening, shortly after arriving from Dubai on an Emirates flight, Amit Jain, group CEO of the Dubai-based real estate giant Emaar Properties, was briefly detained at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

According to a top Punjab police official speaking to news outlet ANI, "One passenger, namely Amit Jain, Indian National landed at IGIA by flight no. EK-516 from Dubai is arrested at immigration."

He was later released following some quick questioning at the airport, according to a statement from The Emaar Group.

Prior to this, the Punjab Police had issued a LookOut Circular (LOC) against Emaar in relation to a situation where the Group CEO was charged in a FIR that was filed in November 2019 as a result of a private complaint over a delay in the delivery of the complainant's purchased plot.

According to LOC No. 2022412989, which was originally issued by SP (INV) Rupnagar, Punjab, with the text "Detain and handover to local police and inform," Amit Jain is wanted in connection with FIR No. 200/2019 filed under Sections 420, 406, and 120B of the IPC at Police Station City Rupnagar (Punjab).

According to reports quoted by ANI, "Punjab Police had written to the immigration department on June 17 regarding the FIR issued against Amt Jain." sources told ANI.
